This strategy can be used to activate prior knowledge and to review. Before a new topic is taught, students identify, "What We Know" and "What We Want to Know" about the topic. The teacher records their answers. The teacher then leads a discussion about how students can find the answers to "What We Want to Know." After learning about the topic students then identify, "What We Have Learned" and "What We Want to Know Next." Students can also complete this in groups.
